Low-rise trousers, glass water drops on suits and snorkeling goggles in the new Jacquemus LE SPLASH collection

The show was held on the island of Oahu

Following the Instagram of Simon Port Jacmus is like watching a light French film about summer, tenderness and all-encompassing love. The pictures published in his account are so good that they can be safely exhibited in the gallery of modern art. This aesthetic of carelessness and natural beauty also finds its continuation in the collections of his eponymous brand Jacquemus. But it all starts with locations: each brand show takes place against the backdrop of stunning landscapes — remember at least the lavender field or the Marseille beach. But if earlier the designer chose exclusively French views, then this season he went as far as ever — to Hawaii.

«For our first Jacquemus show outside of France, we chose the Hawaiian island of Oahu. His impressive landscapes have become the perfect addition to the Le Splash collection. This show is inspired by the brand’s advertising campaign, shot in 2021 there, on Oahu, by photographer Tom Kneller. The show marks the culmination of both the personal and professional dreams of Simon Port Jacmus. Being a guest of Hawaii, the designer shows respect for this place, its culture and lifestyle — in order to leave a minimal footprint, the brand collaborated only with local businesses and artists, and local friends of Jacquemus became the guests of the show.

Le Splash represents various states of water — from references to the bright blue color, as in David Hockney’s paintings, to homage to water sports, appearing both in silhouettes and in the details of the collection: life jackets have become handbags, fasteners on clothes are taken from wetsuits, and branded trouser sets are decorated with glass water drops designed by artist Tanya Lyons,» Jacmus told his subscribers.

The name of the collection translates as «splash», and unexpectedly for everyone it materialized during the show — exactly at the minute when the models took to the podium, heavy rain began. As a result: the video posted on the brand’s Instagram was edited from what the Jacquemus team managed to film before the show. According to Jacmus, after the downpour, the clothes were so wet and dirty that it was simply impossible to take them off. However, we are sure that Simon is exaggerating — the collection turned out to be so feminine, sexy and bright that even a hurricane could hardly spoil it.

The first thing that catches your eye is a rich palette: the designer combined grassy green and pale pink, turquoise and deep blue, lemon and beige. In one case, total bows were made up of these shades, in the other, only accents were bright. For example, high ocean-colored gloves complemented sand pantsuits, and an updated blue Le sac Rond handbag — a black jumpsuit with elongated legs. Translucent pareo skirts, small cardigans, bra tops, low-rise trousers and branded deconstructed dresses have taken a special place in our hearts. A nice bonus: the collection is already available for purchase on the official website of Jacquemus — we recommend you hurry up, otherwise you risk being left without the main masthaves of the season.
