You won’t have to go far for evidence — just look at the images from the new Molly Goddard collection, presented last night in London. While working on the outfits, Molly Goddard was inspired by the old districts of the capital of England and the spirit of the 80s. Her heroine was her mother’s best friend, who, according to the designer, was something between Marilyn Monroe and Mick Jones: bleached hair, bright lipstick, dresses from the 50s combined with a military jacket and sneakers. Men’s style could be traced in fishtail evening dresses and raincoats inspired by army outerwear, as well as strict coats with lace. Branded tulle dresses are now combined with cotton trousers, and printed cardigans have made friends with translucent skirts decorated with frills. The designer conceived this collection as more casual, simple and understandable — she coped with this task perfectly.
