A talisman doll made of scraps: Irina Shayk in huge «folk» dresses

London Fashion Week 2022 will definitely be remembered by the Russian supermodel for her most unusual catwalk looks

The pandemic and the global lockdown greatly influenced the work of the young designer Matty Bovan, who became very interested in needlework and spent the whole year knitting and studying folk crafts in the States where he recently moved. Most of all, the Briton was impressed by patchwork blankets, rag rugs and plaid towels. The result was a collection by Matty Bovan called Americana, which he presented as part of London Fashion Week — from contrasting pieces of fabric, frills and apron dresses like Holly from The Wizard of Oz.

Honestly, the creativity of the winner of the International Woolmark Prize reminded us more of Russian «plump» rag dolls-hot water bottles for a kettle. Or folk dolls-amulets, which were made from scraps and decorated with aprons. In this vein, it is symbolic that some of the images were presented on the podium by Russian supermodel Irina Shayk.
